Graduate Students

The Southern Alberta Cancer Research Institute (SACRI) offers an excellent environment for graduate training leading to M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees.  Graduate students obtain a broad foundation in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology through study of the diverse mechanisms of cancer pathophysiology. Students are given the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines with high calibre researchers, access cutting-edge equipment, attend seminars by ground-breaking scientists, and present their work in weekly Work-in-Progress and Journal Club meetings.

Full members of SACRI may supervise students in several different graduate programs, including the Medical Sciences-Cancer Biology program, the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology program and other graduate programs at the University of Calgary.  Prospective students may apply to an appropriate program, depending on the supervisors they are considering for their graduate studies.

Application Process

Prospective MSc or PhD students should submit an online application through Graduate Studies. Click here for the application. It is advantageous to first identify a prospective supervisor.
Note: The Translational Research Training in Cancer (TRTC) program invites applications from prospective trainees only after the trainees have been accepted into a graduate program.
