The Weekend to End Women's Cancers Chair in Breast Cancer Research

The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers Chair in Breast Cancer Research. This chair has a three million dollar endowment funded by the Alberta Cancer Foundation. The successful candidate will be an MD, PhD or MD/PhD with the current rank of Associate Professor or higher with an established track record of research in the area of breast cancer.

The successful candidate will provide visionary and inspirational leadership in developing and maintaining a world-class women’s cancer research program within the Southern Alberta Cancer Research Institute and the University of Calgary.  The incumbent will have demonstrated leadership abilities to establish an innovative research program with application to breast cancer. She/he will also provide strong mentorship to junior faculty and training opportunities to students in breast cancer research.

Independent salary award funding would be an advantage in order to maximize the use of the endowed funds to advance breast cancer research at the Faculty of Medicine. The ability to promote collaborative research across disciplines is highly desired. The candidate will have access to a generous start-up package to help build on her/his research program in the area of breast cancer research. The initial appointment will be for five years, and is renewable upon successful review of the first term. Review of applications will begin August 30, 2010 and continue until the position is filled.Please submit curriculum vitae, statement of research interests and vision for the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers Chair in Breast Cancer Research (two pages).
